Sobre o evento
Field-building efforts—whether through networks, capacity strengthening, or digital public goods—are vital to advancing social impact. But how do we evaluate their effectiveness? This interactive session explores practical strategies for evaluating field-building initiatives, drawing on real-world examples from data.org and TSIC. We’ll share lessons on defining field-building impacts, measuring reach and influence, and learning in complex systems. Join us to exchange ideas on evaluation methods that capture the collective, long-term change field-builders aim to create.

Resumo
Evaluating field building consists of the following key concepts and activities:
* A clear understanding of what we mean by 'field' and 'field actors'
* Outlining a robust theory of change that specifies the key infrastructure and activities performed by actors
* The four learning areas using the WISH framework
* Evidencing field-building efforts through a robust list of indicators for which data is then collected
* Defining rigorous and conservative methodology that details how each metric is admitted.
Lessons learned
* The devil is in the details
* Keep it simple
* Be your harshest critic
