About the Event
This lecture will explore how artificial intelligence is transforming monitoring and evaluation practices across development programs in South Asia. Participants will gain insights into emerging AI tools used for data analysis, monitoring, and evidence generation, as well as the ethical and methodological challenges associated with their use. The session will help evaluation professionals understand how AI can strengthen evidence-based decision making while maintaining transparency, credibility, and trust in evaluation systems.

The session explored the evolving role of artificial intelligence in monitoring and evaluation and highlighted both the opportunities and challenges associated with AI-enabled evaluation systems. Participants gained insights into emerging applications of AI for data analysis, evidence generation, and decision-making, while also reflecting on issues of transparency, bias, accountability, and trust. The discussion emphasized the importance of responsible AI adoption within the South Asian context. Overall, the session fostered meaningful dialogue and strengthened participants’ understanding of how AI can support credible, ethical, and evidence-based evaluation practices.
