APPFE and APNODE will discuss the importance of building an evaluation culture in the Parliament and how this can address political polarization. The APPFE has been working towards encouraging parliamentarians to work towards the institutionalization of evaluation to inform evidence-based decision-making and policy-making. In the same vein, APNODE focuses on enhancing the evaluation capacity of parliamentarians to better oversee the executive actions.
The objective of this session is to share experiences and lessons from the Asia Pacific and Africa Regions on the steps taken to engage and promote an evaluation culture among Parliamentarians and its potential contribution to preventing/mitigating the issue of political polarization.

| Ms. Marie Josée Abbet | Evaluation Capacity Development Consultant for IDEV 3, AfDB | She holds a Master’s degree in International Banking and Finance from the University of Leeds, UK, and a second Master’s in Finance and Accounting from IBMT. With over seven years of experience, Marie Josée is a seasoned consultant specializing in capacity building, digital financial services, and international project management. Marie Josée began her career in the banking sector, where she played a pivotal role in the establishment and scale-up of WAVE, a financial startup committed to providing accessible and tailored financial solutions for underserved populations in Côte d'Ivoire. A proud alumna of both the prestigious Chevening Scholarship and the YALI (Young African Leaders Initiative) program, Marie Josée has designed and managed capacity-building programs for BAMER organizations in London, UK.
