The UNICEF Evaluation Office is using AI-enabled evidence to understand what works for children and where gaps remain. This webinar uses UNICEF’s Global Evaluation Evidence Synthesis as a case to explore how AI tools can enhance evaluation methods- from screening and text mining to rapid evidence extraction. It will demonstrate the use of EPPI Mapper and SWIFT Review and show how these workflows support a shift toward a continuously updated “living synthesis.”

Erica Mattellone Chief, Institutional Effectiveness Erica Mattellone leads the Institutional Effectiveness Team in UNICEF’s Evaluation Office, assessing how UNICEF’s systems, policies, and strategies enable effective programme delivery. With over 20 years’ experience, she advances evidence-based decision-making to drive better results for children.
Fiona Campbell Associate Professor of Evidence Synthesis Fiona Campbell is the Evidence Synthesis Lead within the Centre for Evidence and Implementation at the University of Birmingham. Her research interests focus on advancing evidence synthesis methodologies to support policy and clinical decision making.
Kyra Variyava Evaluation Officer (fellow) Kyra Variyava is an Evaluation Officer in the Institutional Effectiveness Team, supporting evaluation design, planning, qualitative analysis, and evidence synthesis. She contributes to global work, advances youth participation, and brings expertise with AI‑enabled evidence tools.
