Workshop on Measuring Sustainability of Programme Implementation using Contribution Analysis

Atelier | En ligne

À propos de l'événement

About the Workshop:
Using a case study method, this workshop will explain and steer the conversation towards ensuring the gains from project implementation persist even after interventions cease active engagement in communities. The case study will explain the ideation behind structuring a sustainability study for an NPO, based in India, which works in the education space for children and adolescents. Participants will gain insights into the use of Contribution Analysis (CA) to assess implementation sustainability, key sustainability assumptions, and the role of communities, governments, and stakeholders in maintaining positive change. Using this, groups of participants will create their own study designs to understand intervention sustainability from a select list of gender focused interventions.

Workshop Objectives:
Participants will engage in discussions and activities centered on:
• Understanding key sustainability assumptions for the case study presented and their relevance to gender-focused programmes.
• Applying CA to structure a study on programme sustainability and assessing outcomes.

Closer Look at Evaluating Sustainability Using Contribution Analysis (CA):
The CA approach, used in the case study, provides a structured method to examine whether interventions have had a sustained impact by understanding which outcomes and assumptions are met in the programme Theory of Change (ToC) and identifying positive spillover effects created by programme intervention. Using the information from the workshop, the participants will be able to use CA to do the following for their own projects:
• Establish a results chain that connects programme activities with long-term outcomes.
• Understand how to use CA to identify factors that could either support or hinder sustainability.

Workshop Activities and Application:
Participants will actively engage in the following -
• Case Study Analysis: Understanding sustainability practices and the use of CA from the case study.
• Sustainability Mapping: Creating a results chain with key sustainability markers.
• Evaluation Planning: Identifying and outlining key stakeholders, assumptions, and outcomes as sustainability indicators.

Take away:
By applying evaluation techniques such as Contribution Analysis and fostering community ownership, projects can ensure that gains from gender-equality initiatives are realised. This workshop equips participants with the tools and knowledge to embed sustainability into their own initiatives and work towards creating a way forward for their own project initiatives which drive systemic change for gender equality.
