About the Event
This session explores how evaluation can remain credible, relevant, and influential in an increasingly complex and interconnected world. Drawing on experience from Climate funds and MDBs, the session focuses on the use and influence of evaluation, highlighting the role of independence, systems thinking, adaptive methodologies, and timely evidence in supporting decision-making. It will also reflect on the responsibilities of evaluators in current times—where demands for accountability are high and resources are constrained.

| Geeta Batra | Director, Independent Evaluation Office (IEO), Global Environment Facility (GEF) | Geeta Batra is Director of the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the Global Environment Facility since 2024. She has over 25 years of experience in international development, including 15 years of experience in program evaluation. Geeta has co-authored books and articles and managed over 100 evaluations. She has a Ph.D in Economics and an M.BA in Finance. |
| Andreas Reumann | Head, Independent Evaluation Unit (IEU), Green Climate Fund (GCF) | Mr. Andreas Reumann is Head of the Independent Evaluation Unit (IEU) at the Green Climate Fund, where he leads evaluations, global evidence reviews, and capacity-building initiatives. Previously, he served as Principal Evaluation Officer at the IEU. Andreas specialises in designing impact monitoring systems for large research-for-development projects, conducting impact evaluations, foresight analysis, and developing alternative evaluation methods. He has worked at the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), focusing on monitoring, evaluation, and learning capacity. Andreas has extensive international experience across both public and private sectors, particularly in evaluation, economics, finance, environment, and public policy throughout Europe and the Asia-Pacific. He holds a BA in European Economic Studies and an MSc in Economics from the University of Copenhagen. |
| Juha Uitto | President, International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS) | Juha Uitto advises international organizations on issues related to evaluation and environmental management. From 2014 to 2024, he was the Director of the Independent Evaluation Office of the Global Environment Facility. He is also Visiting Scholar at the Environmental Law Institute. |
| Jos Vaessen | Senior Adviser, Independent Evaluation Group (IEG), World Bank Group | Jos Vaessen is Senior Adviser at the Independent Evaluation Group and Head of the Global Evaluation Initiative. Since 1998 he has been involved in evaluation research, including senior positions at UNESCO, IDB and the World Bank Group. Jos has published on evaluation and delivered evaluation trainings across the globe. |
