Summary
- Two categories of impact: a) change within the academy among peers, and b) impact outside the academy – whether in social, environmental, technological spheres, or some other part of life.
- Changing the measurement culture toward an institution that views itself as
interwoven with the fabric of society and dedicated to generating the maximum impact possible requires a rethink as to how we approach evaluation in its structure, as well as the range of numbers available to decision-makers and the general public.
- Moving towards more responsible evaluation, with mechanisms that mix properly contextualized indicators and narrative structures will allow researchers to express the value of their research and activities.
