Resumen
Challenges faced by the transport sector are significant and COVID-19 crisis is making the situation even more complex. However, this could also provide an opportunity to better utilize the latest technology, making sure that multidimensional and cross sectoral approaches are incorporated in transport project planning, design and implemented rather than in isolation. Consideration of human factor and behavior pertaining to transport decisions are also a key underlying aspect to be considered in providing successful sustainable transport solutions.
Some of the follow up action items to be considered that were discussed are as follows: Utilize enhanced technologies in assessing the information and data regarding the transport usage and associated behaviors to better support in transport planning and making the most informed decisions. Support toward providing more sustainable and resilient transport system especially considering the pandemic and ensure continuation of the services which require putting in various protocol needed to cope with the challenges and adapting to the changing environment. Support toward obtaining trust of the users especially towards public transport and consider the behavioral aspect of the users in providing the reliable and safe services.
