From Data to Decisions: Using AI to Strengthen Trust in Classroom-Level Evidence

As education systems generate increasing volumes of data, a persistent gap remains between evidence and action, particularly at the classroom level. While artificial intelligence offers powerful tools to bridge this gap, it also raises critical questions about trust, contextual judgment, and the responsible use of evidence in decision-making.

This masterclass uses VallamAI: an AI-enabled instructional support platform implemented in public education systems, as a practical case to explore how AI can strengthen evaluative practice. Participants will engage with how classroom observation and assessment data can be translated into actionable insights for teachers and instructional coaches, moving beyond static dashboards toward real-time decision support.

Through user-journey walkthroughs and scenarios, the session will unpack where AI adds genuine value—such as surfacing patterns and enabling timely responses—and where it introduces risks, including bias, over-reliance, and loss of contextual nuance. The masterclass will also focus on the role of human judgment, and the safeguards needed to ensure AI supports, rather than undermines, the credibility of evidence.
